- 2010 State Conference Comes to a Close
Ahoy Ye Adventurer's!
The 2010 WI State SHRM Conference kicked off on Wednesday, October 6, at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel & Conference Center at 1:00 p.m. with Pre-Conference Sessions that several attended. Later that day, attendees enjoyed strolling through the Exhibit Hall which opened promptly at 4:30 p.m. There were many great booths, activities, food and beverages all based on the theme of the 2010 Conference, "Chart Your Course on an HR Voyage!".
The next day was filled with learning sessions beginning at 6:30 a.m. with Early Bird Sessions on Thursday, October 7. The Keynote Speaker, Jeff Tobe, entertained the attendees at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 8:00 a.m. with the topic "Coloring Outside the Lines: Charting Your Course to Creativity and Innovation". After a day filled with learning sessions ending at 4:30 p.m., attendees were invited to the "Port Royal Festival" at the PAC, which included heavy hors d'oeuvers and entertainment by the Vic Ferrari Band until 9:30 p.m.
Friday, October 8 began at 6:30 a.m. with early bird sessions. A plated hot breakfast was served to all attendees with recognition given to those who were certified through HRCI.
Milwaukee Center for Independence was the 2010 WI SHRM Diversity Award Winner. This was also announced, recognized and respresentation was present to accept the award. Following breakfast, attendees enjoyed a morning filled with learning sessions before coming back to the Grand Ballroom for lunch followed by the final Keynote Speaker, Kris Dunn. Kris discussed the topic "Family Values & HR Practice: Turing Idealistic Value Statements Into a Talent Advantage. Following his address, the conference came to a close as attendees were energized to go back to their workplace and put into practice the things learned.

The dates set for the 25th Annual WI SHRM State Conference is October, 12 - 14, 2011 at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison, WI. Co-Chairing the 2011 WI SHRM State Conference will be Amy Doepke and Lisa Henke.
